With over 20 years of experience working with animals, Tara brings a wealth of knowledge and heart to the front lines of client care. She began her journey in grooming, but her passion for animal well-being led her to the medical side of veterinary care, where she now helps guide families through every step of their pet’s health journey.
Tara is known for her warm energy, her deep empathy, and her dedication to building lasting relationships with both clients and their beloved pets. She takes pride in helping provide compassionate care to the Lowcountry community.
At home, Tara is surrounded by her own lively crew: Arlo the Cane Corso, Oliver the mini Schnoodle, Journey the Goldendoodle, and a bustling mini farm filled with chickens, goats, and pigs. With experience at clinics all across the Lowcountry, she finds joy in reconnecting with pet owners she’s helped over the years.
Alissa has worked in several Fear Free Certified practices and incorporates these techniques daily to reduce stress and anxiety for patients. She has completed extensive continuing education focused on minimizing fear in veterinary care and takes pride in her compassionate, client-focused approach.
She has a special interest in surgical care, hospice and euthanasia support, and ensuring that both pets and their families feel cared for throughout every stage of life.
At home, Alissa’s pack includes Brisket the hedgehog and four dogs: Carl, a female blue merle Catahoula leopard dog; Loaf, a male red merle Catahoula; Letty, a silver Lab; and Torin, a Great Dane–St. Bernard mix. Amy
Veterinary Assistant
As a Veterinary Technician in a low-cost clinic setting, I’m proud to provide compassionate, high-quality care to pets and families who might otherwise struggle to access essential veterinary services. I believe every animal deserves a chance at a healthy life, regardless of their owner’s financial situation.
With experience in preventive care, basic surgical support, and client education, I work closely with veterinarians to ensure each patient receives the best possible treatment within their means. My role often involves helping pet owners understand their options, offering guidance with empathy, and finding practical solutions for care.
Working in this environment has deepened my commitment to animal welfare and community outreach. I take pride in being part of a team that makes veterinary care more accessible, and I’m honored to support the bond between people and their pets—especially when it matters most.
When I’m not at the clinic, you can usually find me out for a run, baking something sweet, or spending time with my dog, Blueberry—who’s part goofball, part cuddlebug, and fully spoiled. Being active, creative, and surrounded by animals keeps me grounded and inspired in and out of work.
